Spruce Up Your Space with Joseph Altuzarra x Etsy’s Seriously Chic Home Collection
By his own admission, Joseph Altuzarra spends a lot of time on Etsy. He shops for vintage and ceramics, scrolling through pages and pages to see which crafts catch his eye. So when it came time to embark on his first ever interiors project, he already knew the e-commerce site, and its artisans, would be the perfect partners.
“I wanted to express the universe of the brand, but in an interior way,” Altuzarra says of his new home line, which debuts on Etsy.com today. Fashion fans will immediately recognize his design’s homespun hallmarks: placemats and coasters made with espadrille material, tie-dye pillows, vases and urns in the house’s signature color, cognac.
All in all, Altuzarra collaborated with eight different Etsy crafters. There’s Sarah, a ceramicist from California, who created earth tone, black, and white vases. Monica, the artisan who crocheted on smooth black stones. (Altuzarra personally reviewed each rock to ensure they met his standards.) The woven placemats are from New Jersey, the baskets are woven in Israel, and the list goes on. The whole collection took about a year and half from start to finish —“it was a laborious process,” he says.
